Danish farmer in Portugal

Dorte and Karsten have now lived in Portugal for 35 years. What started in 1982 as an one year working experience abroad on a Danish owned farm, has turned into their own family business

In 1989, they bought their first 25ha. Today they have 560ha, where 220ha are covered with new generation olive groves, all drip-watered. Our olive varieties are Arbequina, Cobrançosa and Picual.

Karsten has his farmer’s degree from Denmark. The couple has 2 children: Morten and Kamilla. Both graduated in Denmark, Morten in farming and Kamilla in business and economics. And currently both working on the family business.

We have now supplied the English marked with fresh beetroot for the last 25 years, and are used to deliver total traceability from producer to consumer.

Today we are growing the following crops:

- Olive groves for extra virgin olive oil

- Fresh baby beetroot for the English market

- Cereal crops, such as barley and wheat

- Poppies

- Oilseed raps for biodiesel

- Pine trees

- Hay for Dortes horses

Besides the land we produce, we also have set aside land for biodiversity.
